The joint inaugural event will be the “Investing in Dreams” black tie gala which will be held on June 25, 2010 at the DeKalb Tech Conference Center located at 495 Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston GA 30021. And will feature the presentation of the 2010 DIFFERENCE MAKER AWARD™ which will be presented to this year’s recipient Steve Robinson, Sr. Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer for Chick Fil A.

Proceeds from this event will be used to provide scholarships for tuition, books, classroom materials, etc. for students and to ensure that DeKalb Tech is equipped to meet the changing workforce needs of the business community. Special scholarships will also be established to specifically support individuals diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

THE DIFFERENCE MAKER AWARD™ is presented each year to citizens who have demonstrated outstanding service and have made significant contributions to the community. The honorees selected have devoted their time and talents to make substantial, enduring contributions to young people. Their involvement and commitment have resulted in long-term and lasting changes for the public good as well as encouraged achievement in academic environments.

Dr. Joseph Profit, President of the NFL Alumni Atlanta Chapter, says, “Every year, Youth United for Prosperity, Inc., is proud to recognize and honor individuals or companies who have made a significant difference in the lives of young people in the community, especially when it comes to supporting and mentoring our kids and Steve Robinson is someone who exemplifies supporting the youth of our community.” “This new partnership is a union of three great organizations with different missions, but a common goal: to promote education and service to our community,” says Dr. Robin Hoffman, President of DeKalb Technical College.

Ed Bates, Chairman of the DeKalb Technical College Foundation, echoes Hoffman’s enthusiasm, saying “We are delighted to partner with the NFL Alumni to help raise funds that will be used to provide scholarships for students and to ensure that DeKalb Tech remains a leading educational facility to train and prepare individuals for the world of work as well as for the world of service.”

The NFL Alumni Association/Youth United for Prosperity and DeKalb Technical College invites you to join this unique event. We are currently seeking local businesses that might be interested in participating. The best ways to participate is by taking out a congratulatory message in the commemorative program, or purchase a table and attend the event.
